Just like that. Unexpectedly one morning. A legend was gone. The final curtain fell on the life of a true South African icon far too soon.

While Mzansi was still waking up and getting ready to take on the week, the tragic news broke that Shaleen Surtie-Richards had died.

The actor, who was found dead in a guest house in Cape Town, had just wrapped filming scenes for the Afrikaans telenovela Arendsvlei in which she portrays the role of a retired nurse, Muriel Foster.
