Gospel singer Israel Mosehla died on Sunday. He was 50 years old.

The Soweto-born musician was part of a gospel group called G. Effect in 1985 before branching out as a solo artist. Between 2003 and 2005, Israel, together with G-Effect, toured the USA, the UK and Brazil.

In 2007 he opened his own record label, Kgabo Music Productions, and released the album Endaweni Ephakeme, nationally and locally.

He is survived by his wife, Millicent, and six children, Lesego, Tshegofatso, Katlego, Kagiso, Keitumetse and Gontse. 

In an Instagram post following her husband's death, Millicent said: "You left me shattered."
