Cape Town - After leaving the local spotlight, South African actor and singer Robbie Klay relocated to Hollywood 7 years ago to start over with a clean slate where nobody knew about his troubled past.

In December 2019 Robbie Klay returned to South African, where he performed in Boksburg for the first time in 5 years.

"International superstar from Los Angeles is back in SA," Ria Van Wyk, an event coordinator from Boksburg, wrote on Facebook to advertise the free concert.

Speaking to Huisgenoot's Jana van der Merwe, Robbie says that it was always his dream to pursue a career in music and theatre in Tinseltown and in 2007 he completed a two-month course in film in Los Angeles.

He made friends while in Los Angeles, which made the transition easier, as he could reach out to familiar faces, Robbie tells the Afrikaans magazine.

According to the article, Robbie works as a producer, cameraman and director in Hollywood and has appeared in several advertisements.

While in the country over the festive season, Robbie also spent time with his family and friends, although he admits they don't have a close-knit relationship, he says he misses them a lot.

Sharing a photo of from his time with his son, Robbie writes: "This champ of mine. My boy, so happy I got to spend some time with him! I missed him so much, and I'm very happy we could spend time together."

Robbie, who says he has been single for two years, explains when he isn't home at his studio apartment, he spends most of  time at the gym - evident from his Instagram feed.

According to the singer working out has been like "therapy" and he is happy with the life he has built for himself - with no plans of returning home anytime soon.
