Keeping Up With the Kardashians was almost a huge ratings failure before the show became a breakout hit, according to Khloé Kardashian.

The reality star appeared on the Kelly Clarkson show on Monday where she shared that the family shot a pilot for Ryan Seacrest, but it didn't lead anywhere.

"And then a show on E! fell through, so they needed something to fill this dead air time. And they were like, 'You're getting on the show, start filming, you're getting on the air, like, in two weeks," said the 36-year-old.

The Revenge Body host added that she thinks what added to the success of their show was that they were themselves, which made them relatable and realistic to people.

Keeping Up With the Kardashians went on to run for multiple seasons and even had a number of spin-off shows. The 21st and final season will air later this year.
