Andrew and Kelly Mi Li's tumultuous on-and-off relationship was one of the season's central storylines. In episode one, during a trip to Paris, a conversation between Andrew and Kelly got heated when he shouted at her for leaving him alone at the hotel.

In an interview with E! News, Andrew is claiming that what viewers saw was not an accurate portrayal of their relationship.

"To set the record straight, what was captured in the show doesn't reflect our relationship at all. I don't believe the audience—and this is my opinion, Kelly's gonna say her piece—really saw anything other than the absolute worst part of a time, a short time, that was put on camera."

He added that the filming was "a set-up", "a trigger" and a "manipulation".

In a cast update video posted by Netflix on Monday Kelly revealed that she and Andrew are back together. The couple reportedly took a break and then got back together before the coronavirus lockdown in March.

"The audience saw a really dark period of our relationship, and with Andrew's behaviour, I don't excuse it at all. I think it's 100 percent wrong," said Kelly in the special.

She added that after filming, they took a break and focused on themselves by going to therapy individually.

"Now that we are back in communication and seeing each other it's night and day," said Kelly.

Andrew added: "We are together today — stronger, happier than we ever have been."
