Gather around, dear reader; we have some Bridgerton news.

The Netflix show has cast Sex Education actor Simone Ashley in the role of Kate Sharma who will play the love interest of Viscount Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey).

According to the streaming service's character description, Kate is a smart, headstrong young woman who suffers no fools - Anthony Bridgerton very much included.

As you can imagine, Lady Whistledown is looking forward to this new addition to the cast. The official Bridgerton Twitter account wrote: "Quite a juicy bit of gossip, dear readers... This author is certainly looking forward to many a column covering Miss Kate Sharma."

In January the streaming service announced that the season of the show would focus on Anthony Bridgerton which is based on the novel, The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn.

In the book, Kate, is the older sister of the woman Anthony has decided to marry. Kate wants to stop this impending union because of Anthony's reputation as a rake. But sparks soon fly between the two.
