The Ellen DeGeneres Show will come to an end in 2022 - the 19th season will be its last.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the decision has been "several years in the making."

Ellen informed her staff on 11 May and will sit down with Oprah Winfrey to discuss the news further on 13 May.

"When you're a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged - and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it's just not a challenge anymore," Ellen told The Hollywood Reporter

'Ellen was and is an indelible piece of the television landscape, and it will be sorely missed,' Mike Darnell, Warner Bros Unscripted TV President, said.

Last year, Ellen and several staff members were accused by current and former employees of fostering a toxic work environment. In response, the 63-year-old TV host apologised on-air, and three producers parted ways with the show.
