Grey's Anatomy fans, hold on to your scrubs, Ellen Pompeo just dropped a bombshell.
In a cover interview with Variety, the 50-year-old casually shared the upcoming 17th season of the longest-running medical series could be its last.
"We don't know when the show is really ending yet. But the truth is, this year could be it," said Ellen.
The actor has played Meredith Grey since the show premiered in 2005 and has since also become a producer on the show. In 2018 she signed a major television deal that made her the highest-paid TV actress.
Ellen further revealed in the interview that it is the last year of her contract. "I don't know that this is the last year? But it could very well could be," she said, adding that as a producer she is "constantly fighting for the show to get better". She said that any decision to end the show won't be taken lightly.
As for the upcoming season, Ellen said that it is going to be one of the best seasons ever and that it will tackle the coronavirus pandemic.
