Cape Town – The Wedding Bashers return for a second season on Sunday, 14 October at 18:00 on M-Net (DStv 101).
Season 1 of the original M-Net production was so popular that it even had a special four-episode series in which the bashers themselves turned wedding planners. (Read more here)
If you’re new to the show this is how it works.
The four wedding bashers judge the décor, entertainment, food, and fashion for an overall score. At the end of the season the wedding of the year will be crowned.
Now that you’re up to speed, here’s what you need to know about the new season.
1. NEW JUDGES
Joining wedding planner Zavion Kotze and TV presenter Denise Zimba are former Miss South Africa Bernelee Daniell and chef and food stylist Zola Nene who are replacing Cindy Nell-Roberts and Siba Mtongana.
Zavion will judge the decor, Denise the wedding entertainment, Zola the food and Bernelee the fashion.
2. 1 WEDDING PER EPISODE
In the first season there were two weddings per episode. This time around there will only be one wedding per episode. This means viewers can get to know the couple better.
There will be 15 wedding episodes and a 16th one in which the winner will be crowned.
3. NEW SCORING SYSTEM
In the first season each basher scored the wedding on their respective areas. Their overall experience score was then done in secret.
This season the bashers will be giving their overall score which will be revealed to the viewers. For input on their respective areas there’s a new rating wheel representing levels such as “OMG Amazing” and “Ho Hum”.
When added together it will determine the top five weddings that make it to the finale of the competition.
Viewers can also give their score online which will be added to the judges score to determine the top 5 for the finale.
Also new this season is the leaderboard which will be updated every week as the weddings are scored.
This will also enable viewers to keep track of where their favourites are.
5. THE VIEWERS CHOOSE THE WINNING COUPLE
The couple that receives the best viewer rating from the bashers' top five walks off with the title of wedding of the season and awesome prize package which includes: R250 000 cash from M-Net, R100 000 in jewellery from Jack Friedman and R80 000 five night second honeymoon to the Seychelles, courtesy of Constance Ephelia Seychelles and Air Seychelles.
Tune in for all the wedding drama Sundays at 18:00 on M-Net (DStv 101)
