  • Giuliana Rancic and her host of panellists will discuss all things fashion at this years 93rd Academy Awards on E! Live from the Red Carpet.
  • Oscars red carpet coverage on E! (DStv 124) will start on Sunday 25 April at 23:00 and continue until 02:00 on Monday morning.
  • "I am excited to get out and interview all of the amazing talent at this year's Oscars," says Giuliana.

After months of waiting, Hollywood's biggest night has finally arrived. The cream of Tinseltown will gather together for the first time in over a year at the 93rd Academy Awards.

Producers revealed last week that the red carpet would be dramatically downsized, and the guest list will be limited.

One thing we can count on, though, is E! Live from the Red Carpet hosted by Giuliana Rancic. She will be joined by guest host Karamo and panellists Nina Parker, celebrity stylist Brad Goreski, Rotten Tomatoes editor Jacqueline Coley and E!'s style correspondent Zanna Roberts Rassi.

Oscars red carpet coverage on E! (DStv 124) will start on Sunday, 25 April at 23:00 and continue until 02:00 on Monday morning.

In this Q&A, we find out more from the seasoned host about what can be expected from this year's show.

What can we expect from this year's Live From E!: The 2021 Academy Awards, and what are you most looking forward to?

I am excited to get out and interview all of the amazing talent at this year's Oscars, along with being joined by special guest host Karamo and panellists Nina Parker, celebrity stylist Brad Goreski, Rotten Tomatoes editor Jacqueline Coley and E!'s style correspondent Zanna Roberts Rassi. We will be live from Los Angeles, CA, at Union Station and the Hollywood Roosevelt on Sunday. This awards season has been so different. There will be a lot of unique moments, and I cannot wait to have great conversations and see the styles for each of the nominees and presenters. We are proud to be a part of sharing this hybrid experience with all of the nominees and our audience this year.

What will be the format of the show, taking into consideration the restrictions of Covid-19?

We are connected to many of the stars at the Oscars, which allows us to have unique, authentic and entertaining conversations in-person and virtually from Live From E!: Brunch to Live From E!: Oscars After Party. E! will provide viewers with the most extensive multi-platform coverage on-air, on digital and across mobile and social. Our production protocols implemented comply with NBCUniversal's safety guidelines, CDC guidance, union guidelines where applicable, along with state and local orders. The health and safety of the cast and crew, and all those in attendance, is our priority.

Do you think red carpet shows will ever resume to "normal" – with everyone attending in person – in the future?

We are expecting to interview many of the nominees and presenters live and in person on Sunday, something we know fans are very excited about. The red carpet is a staple at every major awards show. It is often the precursor to the biggest pop culture events where there are moments when the news breaks there first, and it is our goal to continue in the space of covering stories and sharing information in new and different ways. It is my hope that through time as the red carpet evolves, we will get back to a form of familiarity.

Do you have any favourite celebrities that you have missed seeing on the red carpet during the global pandemic?

I have really missed seeing everyone. It has been great to interview many celebrities in person at the previous award shows this year, so I am happy to reunite with many more on the Live from E!: Academy Awards carpet.

How do you think Covid-19 has impacted the fashion industry for red carpet award shows?

Covid-19 has changed many landscapes in many ways; however, creativity and inspiration are still strong, and we have seen so many of our favourite celebrities continue to be at the forefront of fashion.

What are the trends and designers that you think will dominate this year's Academy Awards red carpet?

I think the celebrities will always bring their own personal style to the carpet, and that is what I am looking forward to seeing when it comes to fashion. During our coverage on Sunday, we will also be getting behind-the-scenes access with stylists, and their Oscar looks for nominees and presenters, something I am excited about.

What has been the most intimate confession that a celebrity has shared with you on a red carpet, and what has been the funniest confession?

Having been fortunate enough to be on so many major red carpets for the past two decades, it truly is hard to narrow down my favourite interviews. With each year and every show, there are so many incredible moments and memories I have made, and I hope this year will be no exception. As for a behind-the-scenes personal memory, there is a silly one I will never forget. During a commercial break, we were switching out the battery in my microphone pack when suddenly, the zipper on my gown split from our hurried fingers! With just ten seconds left until live TV, we tried to tape it shut, and of course, that didn't work, so I had to act fast; either try to play it off and hide what had happened or share the funny story with the viewers and show them what happened, tape and all! I chose the latter of the two, and we all had a great laugh, as did the internet. Those are the moments I love. On live TV, anything can happen, and it usually does.

Outside of Live From E!, what other projects are you currently working on?

When I'm not on the red carpet, I spend most of my days overseeing my skincare line Fountain of Truth Beauty, designing my clothing line G by Giuliana on HSN, and focusing on the RPM restaurant group in Chicago and Washington, D.C. with my incredible partners. I'm lucky that I work mainly from home, with my husband Bill, and get to spend every free moment with him and our 8-year-old son Duke. It's a busy life but a happy one, indeed.
