The third season of multi-award-winning telenovela Gomora will keep fans on the edge of their seats by introducing new characters who will bring heart, humour, and drama to their TV screens.

Season 2 of the telenovela ended on a bloody cliffhanger when one of the lead character's newly-wedded husband, who had been keeping her hostage, was killed by her former lover.

Season 3, which premiered on 25 April, will follow the same character on a destructive path, and drama is not in short supply.

Five new characters will be introduced throughout the new season.

Viewers have already met Duncan Leballo (played by Aubrey Makola). He plays the role of a serious suave wealthy record executive who is a narcissist with a thing for young girls.

On 16 May, fans will be introduced to Mike Junior (aka June-July, played by Tiisetso Thoka), Bra Mike's son. Mike Junior, who has been doing petty crime since the age of 13, under the wing of hostel king Qhoqhoqho, is in Gomora to ensure that Sonto does not enjoy her life since she killed his father.

In episode 17, which will air the next day, viewers will meet Nolo Makinta (played by Jessica Sithole) - a failed slay queen who is traumatised by all of the things rich men put her through. Her disdain for men draws her to another wounded woman – Thati.

Another new addition will be a new teacher to the staff at Gomora High – Andile Faku (played by Moshe Ndiki). Gambling ruined his life: He lost his lavish life in Sandton and cushy private school job. He now thinks his new career is beneath him, but his sense of humour makes him hard to dislike. His character will make his debut on 20 May in episode 25.

Rounding up the new characters is Nkosinathi Cele (played by Fezile Makhanya), who will make his first appearance in episode 42, which will air on 21 June. The smooth-talking high school principal is also an authoritarian who clashes with parents. He is unhappily married but soon crosses paths with the woman he knows he should have married.

Gomora airs weeknights at 19:30 on Mzansi Magic (DStv 161).
