Calling all romantics – and even the cynics – Netflix has a new docu-series that will tug at your heartstrings.

Inspired by the Korean documentary My Love Don't Cross That River, the 6-episode series My Love: Six Stories of True Love documents a year in the lives of six elderly couples from around the world.

From Brazil, India, Japan, Korea, the U.S., and Spain, the couples featured have been together from 42 to 60 years; they share their stories on how their love has endured through the years.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, director Jim Moyoung said he was very excited to take on the theme of love and expand it to different countries.

"I don't think it's easy to create an international original documentary series with a theme interpreted in a way that is contemplative and may not be as dramatic, but Netflix saw the power of deeply moving and fun love stories of elderly couples."

The series premieres on Friday, 13 April.
