- The nominees for the 5th annual Royalty Soapie Awards are out.
- The announcement was broadcast on SABC1 on Wednesday and was hosted by Jamie Bartlett and Zola Nombona.
- Two new categories which the public can vote for - Viewer's Choice Best Actor and Viewer's Choice Best Actress – were introduced.
- Winners will be announced at a ceremony in Johannesburg on 18 September and broadcast on 2 October at 20:00 on SABC 1 (DStv 191).
Nominees of the much-anticipated Royalty Soapie Awards were announced on Wednesday on SABC 1. Jamie Bartlett and Zola Nombona hosted the announcement.
The Royalty Soapie Awards celebrate the hard work they put into producing the excellent work we interact with on our screens. This year's prestigious awards are special as they mark a momentous five-year milestone celebration in an industry that showcases and emphasises the importance of story-telling in our lives.
"The five-year milestone has been a fantastic journey of seeing a dream coming to fruition. As an actress, I saw a need to create a platform where we celebrate the hard work of individuals and productions behind the soapie industry and the success it enjoys in the television industry currently, she added.
The awards introduced two new categories to the public vote category list. The public can now vote for their favourite nominated actors in the Viewer's Choice Best Actor and Viewer's Choice Best Actress.
Three lucky public voters stand a chance to rub shoulders with the who's who of the entertainment industry and enjoy the full VIP and red-carpet experience at the awards ceremony that is taking place on 18 September at the Radisson Hotel & Convention Centre OR Tambo, Johannesburg. Strict Covid-19 regulations will be observed for the safety of everyone in attendance.
