There's a new queen in Netflix's The Crown.

Imelda Staunton takes over the role of Queen Elizabeth from Olivia Colman in the award-winning period drama.

The streaming service has shared the first image of the 65-year-old in character on Twitter with the caption: "An early glimpse of our new Queen Elizabeth II, Imelda Staunton."

The penultimate season will reportedly follow the royal family in the early 1990s.

Other actors stepping in the shoes of the royal family this season are Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, Dominic West as Prince Charles, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip and Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret. Jonny Lee Miller will play UK Prime Minister John Major.
