Oprah Winfrey praises Thuso Mbedu's performance in Underground Railroad

Thuso Mbedu has received high praise from Oprah Winfrey for her role in The Underground Railroad.

The 29-year-old stars in the Barry Jenkins directed series based on Colson Whitehead's novel, which is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Thuso plays Cora Randall, a slave who escapes a plantation in Georgia via the Underground Railroad. Her freedom is threatened by a bounty hunter who will stop at nothing to take her back to the plantation she fled from.

Alongside a video, on Instagram, the talk show host wrote: "Thuso Mbedu gives the performance of a lifetime. Great things are coming for her, and everyone will be saying her name after watching her as the superhero that is Cora."
