Now, this is the story all about how Fresh Prince gets rebooted, turned upside down.

The popular 90s sitcom starring Will Smith is getting a drama remake.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will be based on the 2019 viral video Bel-Air by Morgan Cooper.


The show will examine inner conflict, what it means to be a Black man in America and also deliver swagger and nods to the original show, reports the publication.

Morgan will executive produce, write and direct the show with Will, Fresh Prince creators Andy and Susan Borowitz and Quincy Jones and Benny Medina on board as producers.

The original show ran from 1990 to 1996 and is considered Will's breakthrough role. The series also starred James Avery, Janet Hubert, Alfonso Ribeiro, Karyn Parsons, Tatyana M. Ali and Joseph Marcell.

The series is available to stream on Netflix.
