uBettina Wethu (Our Betty) season two is now streaming on Viu, two months ahead of its SABC release.

The first season of the local adaptation of Ugly Betty starred former MTV VJ Farieda Metsileng as Bettina Sikhakane. The series is a co-production between the SABC and video streaming service VIU.

According to a press release, the second season will start with a bang and introduce fresh faces.

Kamogelo Molatlhoe (Rhythm City, The Wife) takes over the role of Bettina, Lunga Shabalala (Legacy), plays Dingaan, Itumeleng Bokaba (Rhythm City) plays Zaza and Hungani Ndlovu (Scandal!) plays Betty's new love interest Duma.

"Bettina Sikhakane, now an accounts manager at brand management firm Nubia, has made some progress towards her dreams of owning and running her own business, but she finds herself seeking financial freedom from her family responsibilities, moving out and starting her life as a strong, independent woman. But the questions that fans will be asking are whether her obsession with Dingaan Jiyane will go anywhere and just what role will his half-brother Duma play in her love life?" reads the official synopsis.

"Viewers can expect their unfashionable hero to juggle new moral dilemmas, decisions regarding love, family responsibilities and just how to cope with people like Brandon, Lakhe and Tbang who are determined to upset her career. Add a pinch of intrigue regarding how to work with old-flame Dingaan while her relationship with Duma develops, and you have a recipe that mirrors the experiences and predicaments that many young South African women face in the competitive rat race that are part of high visibility, glamorous businesses," says Ryan Solovei, Country Manager at VIU South Africa.

We are proud that uBettina Wethu Season two and the much-loved awkward, straight-talking young woman, whose mission in life is to build the images of others, will be featured first on Viu, a full two months before it is released on SABC in August.

The first three episodes are now available to stream on VIU.
