The cast of Netflix's hit series Squid Game joined Jimmy Fallon to talk about the show's success.

The survival drama, which premiered on the streaming service on 17 September, is the number 1 show in at least 90 countries, reports Forbes.

In the nine-episode series, hundreds of cash-strapped people compete in a series of children's games to win the final reward of 45.6 billion won (R572 million).

On Wednesday, Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Wi Ha-joon and Jung Ho-yeon made a virtual appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

When Jimmy asked them when they realised how big the show was, Hae-soo, who played Cho Sang-woo, replied, "Right now."

On what he thinks the show's appeal is to viewers, Ha-Joon, who played, Hwang Jun-ho said: "I definitely think part of the appeal is the Korean children's games that can be very original, refreshing and also shocking at the same time to the global viewers."

Ho-yeon, who played Kang Sae-byeok, also shared that the robotic giant red light, green light doll in the first game is a character from a Korean textbook.
