This is evident from two reports that were released last week by consultancy group Meridian Economics –they both call for urgent intervention. They say, if government wakes up and takes the drastic steps needed, load shedding could be a thing of the past within two years.

Without this, however, power cuts will be four times worse next year than they were last year, which was a record year for load shedding. In 2024, it will be five times worse and in 2026, 10 times worse, warns Meridian.
