Eskom defers disciplinary action against Jan Oberholzer – but he is not off the hook yet

Almost three months after the Eskom report into the alleged misconduct of chief operating officer Jan Oberholzer found that he should be subjected to a disciplinary hearing, the finding was changed.

But he is not off the hook yet.

In the initial legal opinion, Advocate Nazeer Cassim had found that Oberholzer may have acted contrary to the interests of Eskom in authorising or promoting payment of R42 million to Aveng, which a general manager, Mark Chettiar, refused to execute.
