Of SAA’s creditors, 86% voted in support of the revised plan. With a thumbs-up from the creditors for the business rescue plan, the real question is whether employees actually have a choice in exercising their agency at SAA.

Phillip Saunders has been appointed by Kgathatso Tlhakudi, the director-general of the department of public enterprises, as the interim chief executive to steer the new airline during the rescue process.
