Dr Jack (Swanepoel) and (John) Curtis make up the award-winning creative duo that has supplied City Press with its weekly editorial cartoons since 2012, signing their work as Dr Jack and Curtis.

Curtis conceptualises the cartoons, which Jack then illustrates, but their collaboration is such that they work together despite a social distancing of 400km between their homes in all aspects of the creation of their cartoons, which reflect their worldview and humour beneath the banner “As We See It” and “Biltong and Stripes” on our editorial pages.

Check out some of their cartoons here.

As we are commemorating the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children, which started on November 25, crime against women continues to be worryingly high with over 13 000 women assaulted between July and September 2022, while over 10 000 rape cases were opened in the same period. Is government doing enough to curb GBV?
