It was nine months ago that news of private equity firm CVC Capital Partners’ wanting a percentage shareholding in SA Rugby first filtered through the local ecosystem’s grapevine.

Despite the negotiations having taken that long – whole babies have been born in that time – not only are they understood to still not have been concluded, the chief executives of the main franchises claim to be in the dark about the details surrounding the proposed deal.
