Defence lawyer Advocate Malesela Teffo told the Pretoria High Court on Wednesday that he would call an eyewitness to testify that singer Kelly Khumalo was the one who mistakenly shot dead former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa.
Teffo, who is representing four of the five men standing trial for Meyiwa’s murder, said the witness would also attest that the gun used belonged to Longwe Twala, the son of top music producer Sello “Chicco” Twala.
This was a proposition put to state witness and evidence collector Thabo Mosia during his third day of cross-examination in the murder trial.

Mosia declined to comment on propositions put to him by Teffo and declared that he was deceived by a senior police official to depose an affidavit for a parallel police docket, which identified singer Khumalo as being among the suspects in the killing of the former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper.
Mosia said Colonel Joyce Buthelezi was not honest when she asked him to submit the affidavit, which contradicted his earlier testimony that the crime scene was never tampered with on his arrival.

The second docket was introduced in court by Teffo on Tuesday, who appeared to use its contents to discredit the suggestion that the crime scene was not tampered with.
Mosia said:
However, Teffo did not accept his explanation and accused him of being evasive and concealing discrepancies about the crime scene.
Mosia previously depicted the crime scene as being infested with blood and bullet holes upon his arrival where Meyiwa was gunned down at the house of Khumalo’s mother in October 2014.
State prosecutor George Baloyi objected, saying that Teffo’s questions were unfair to the witness.
Teffo previously claimed that the office of the National Director of Public Prosecutions intended to proceed with the indictment of Longwe Twala, Khumalo, Gladness Khumalo, Zandi Khumalo, Tumelo Madlala, Mthokozisi Twala and Maggie Phiri. Teffo said all these people were supposed to be arrested and charged with premeditated murder of Meyiwa and defeating the ends of justice.
