Conflict of interest could have led to the breakdown of relations between the church and the board chairperson of the embattled Bishop Bavin School at a time when the school was desperately looking for investors.

The school, which is located in Bedfordview, east of Johannesburg, closed its doors last week and sent staff packing following financial constraints.
