POLITICS

Like any established female political leader, Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba would probably fancy her chances given the talk gaining traction that the time could be ripe for a woman to lead both the ANC and the government in the province.

But a cloud hanging over any aspirant leader’s head would weaken any future political ambitions, which may explain why those close to Ramathuba, such as her head of department Dr Thokozani Mhlongo, are prepared to put themselves in the line of fire to push back against allegations that the MEC was involved in corrupt personal protective equipment (PPE) tenders in her department.
