Despite the increasing number of Covid-19 coronavirus cases in South Africa in the past few weeks, government has decided to ease regulations and allow restaurants, beauticians, cinemas, theatres, casinos and hairdressers to operate under level 3.

President Cyril Ramaphosa made the announcement on Wednesday evening, stating that the national command council had to allow these businesses to resume because they employed many women.

The president reiterated the need for specific and stringent safety requirements to be put in place before a business could re-open, and protocols which would need to be strictly adhered to for businesses to remain open.
