ANC heavyweight and former cabinet minister Nomvula Mokonyane’s 40th birthday was held at the Victorian Guest House in 2003, according to its owner, Frederik Hendrik Coetzee.

City Press understands that Coetzee filed an affidavit with the state capture inquiry, which is chaired by Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, on July 22, confirming that the establishment had hosted the event.

Coetzee was asked by the commission to provide information after former Bosasa boss Angelo Agrizzi made startling revelations that Bosasa had paid for Mokonyane’s 50th birthday party – themed Break a Leg – at Coetzee’s guesthouse in Krugersdorp.
