The ANC in Johannesburg ran a sophisticated system of corruption that was as bad as that of former president Jacob Zuma, the man whom the leaders of South Africa’s commercial engine loved to hate.

So says former Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba in a new book, Accidental Mayor, published today. The book, written by Mashaba’s former chief of staff, Michael Beaumont, also reveals that the DA has now resigned itself to be “only good enough to remain in opposition”.
