At 4.44pm on Friday, the leaders of the ANC tripartite alliance in North West received an unexpected invitation to meet Premier Job Mokgoro at 6pm to discuss “urgent governance matters” – which they later learnt were about his intention to reshuffle the MECs in government.

According to Sanco provincial secretary Packet Seaketso, the officials of the North West ANC interim provincial committee were absent, which immediately raised alarms, since Mokgoro was a deployee of the governing party.
