This could come back to haunt the department, as the Public Service Commission (PSC) in that province is no longer investigating the allegations that the department’s spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo, submitted a fraudulent matric certificate when he applied for the communications deputy director post in 2002.
Kupelo was suspended in July for the allegations but was brought back in March by the department’s superintendent-general, Dr Rolene Wagner, even though a disciplinary hearing is still under way.
