Mpumalanga head of social development Xoli Mahlalela is demanding R40 million in damages from the provincial government. However, more allegations of corruption have been levelled against him.

Mahlalela’s fixed-term contract expires in October but he has gone on a warpath against Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane and Social Development MEC Thandi Shongwe who he accused of being hell-bent on removing him before his term ends.
