Belinda Sikwane has been told by parents of children living with autism that they chain these youngsters or lock them inside a room because they believe they have a mental illness.
“Even when they chain them like that, you can see it isn’t abuse, but is done out of frustration, because they don’t know what to do with the kids,” says Sikwane.
