SAA creditors have voted in favour of the business rescue plan that would see the creation of a new national airline from the ruins of the bankrupt national carrier.

Following the passing of the vote by an 86% majority of the SAA creditors on Tuesday, the department of public enterprises has moved swiftly to appoint Phillip Saunders as the interim acting chief executive officer (CEO).
