A Gauteng-based security company that conducted the test, and which cannot be named as it is likely to be a witness in the ongoing investigation by the police and the office of the inspector general of intelligence, revealed that a person attached to the office of North West Premier Job Mokgoro was linked to the illegal interception through an “084” sim card number that was traced. A security risk assessment conducted at the North West residence of former ANC MP Nono Maloyi has revealed his calls, emails and SMS messages were being intercepted using a military-grade phone signal grabber – possibly by political opponents in the governing party.
Maloyi is being punted for the position of ANC North West chairperson once Luthuli House gives the green light for the long-delayed provincial conference.
