South African fans of popular Netflix series such as The Crown may have to prepare for major changes and fewer offerings as government plans to impose a local content quota on streaming services.

A reduction in overseas content will most likely be the only option for scores of international streaming services if they are to meet the proposed requirement that 30% of their series and movies are of South African origin.
