The ANC’s cleansing phase, championed by President Cyril Ramaphosa, is expected to continue until next year’s municipal elections.

This follows proposals that no party candidate with disciplinary issues or a criminal record should feature on the governing party’s election list. Even those with pending allegations could be excluded.
