Mahumapelo likens the Rustenburg mayor to the biblical Jonas

Former North West premier Supra Mahumapelo has thrown his weight around in provincial ANC politics, reminding Rustenburg mayor Mpho Khunou that he was “handpicked” to take the mayoral chain in 2011.

But Khunou said in a furious response that he felt insulted by Mahumapelo’s comments, and decried that “individuals seem to elevate themselves above the governing party”.
