The DA has acknowledged that it might not have enough support to govern in North West, but it has encouraged communities in the province to take matters into their own hands, even if it means taking local municipalities to court, as “politics is not always the solution”.

DA leader John Steenhuisen, flanked by the party’s MPs Cilliers Brink and Annette Steyn, and provincial leader Leon Basson, as well as provincial chairperson Luan Snyders, toured the embattled province this week as the party gears up for the local government elections.
