Ajax Cape Town kept their hopes of Premiership return alive following their 5-1 come-from-behind victory over Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila on Tuesday.
A flurry of Ajax goals in the second half secured them the emphatic win.
Veteran striker Eleazar Rodgers scored a hat-trick, while Siphesihle Mkhize and Chumani Butsaka also found the net.
Ajax, Tshakhuma and Black Leopards are fighting tooth and nail in the promotional play-offs.
The Urban Warriors had to dig deep to fight from 0-1 down at half-time to secure the precious points.
The Mother City are now equal on points with Leopards on six points but now have a superior goal difference after three games.
The team demonstrated immense tenacity to not give up after their opponents took the lead.
Ajax lost out on automatic promotion to the top-flight on the final day of the GladAfrica Championship season. They were beaten to the title by Swallows by a single goal in the goal difference count.
The ambitions of their coach, Calvin Marlin, remain alive following the disappointments of a fortnight ago.
Marlin took over the team in January, following the dramatic departure of Andries Ulderink. The Dutchman parted ways with the club apparently in protest of the suspension of former youth coach Hans Vonk.
There are now two games remaining in the play-offs.
Ajax will take on Black Leopards on Friday before the last game on Monday in which Leopards face Tshakhuma.
Ajax v Leopards, Rand Stadium (3pm)
