Former Stormers hooker Ramone Samuels’ career has received a lifeline in the unlikely form of his ex-team’s bitter rivals, the Bulls.

The 25-year-old has been all but retired since he failed to heal fully from an ankle injury sustained during a pre-season friendly against French club side Montpellier two years ago. The ankle break was so bad that his nerve was pinched and subsequently struggled to regenerate itself.

Such was the severity of the impairment that he lost feeling in his foot and has struggled to run freely, a problem which led to Western Province not renewing his contract when it expired last year and his insurance paid out.
