
The calendar for the 2022/23 LaLiga Santander season has been released, with the new campaign set to kick off on August 14 and run until next June.
The elite Spanish league will take a break in November and December due to the World Cup in Qatar.
Reigning champions Real Madrid will start the defence of their title away against a newly promoted UD Almeria.
FC Barcelona are aiming to lift the trophy this year, something the Catalan team haven’t done since 2019, and they’ll start at home against Rayo Vallecano.
The first match day in August has also drawn out a Madrid derby between Getafe CF and Atlético de Madrid.
Real Madrid and Atlético fans will also be looking forward to another derby in the heart of the Spanish capital when the two powerhouses face off on September 18 at Atléti’s Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
Seville’s iconic derby, El Gran Derbi, will see Real Betis host Sevilla FC on November 6.
In Catalonia, Barça will host RCD Espanyol in the first Barcelona Derby on December 31, which is shortly after the World Cup.
And in the north, the first Basque Derby between Real Sociedad and Athletic Club is scheduled for January 14 in San Sebastián.
The draw has also thrown up some great games for the final match of the season.
The blockbuster fixtures in the first week of June list Real Madrid vs Athletic Club, Villarreal CF vs Atlético de Madrid, RC Celta vs Barcelona, Real Sociedad vs Sevilla FC and Real Betis vs Valencia CF.
