Premier division pace-setters Mamelodi Sundowns, Swallows FC and Orlando Pirates will be have their unbeaten league runs put to test in the coast tomorrow.

Sundowns will be in Pietermaritzburg for a date with the winless Martizburg United, while Swallows are in Clermont in Durban for their encounter against Golden Arrows.

Pirates will travel to the Mother City in what is expected to be a crunch encounter against Cape Town City.

The DStv Premiership log leaders Sundowns, second-placed Swallows and Pirates, who are third on the log, boast an unblemished record after five league outings. However, the trio will have their work cut out against opponents who are desperate for points.

In City, Pirates will face a side that have become a hoodoo opponent for the Soweto giant.

For the record, Pirates have not beaten City in a league fixture since 2017 but, on a flip side, their meeting on Saturday could also serve as an event for City to avenge the recent 1-0 loss to the Bucs in the MTN8 quarterfinals in October.

The Maritzburg game will mark the return of coach Ernst Middendorp to the PSL since he parted ways with Kaizer Chiefs at the end of last season.

This is the German tactician’s fourth spell at the Team of Choice and his first assignment will be to lift a team that have lost all their opening five league matches so far.

While Sundowns, Swallows and Pirates as well as Arrows and TS Galaxy, remain the only unbeaten sides in the league so far, Maritzburg are the only team yet to collect maximum points.
