This week the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon became the latest major South African road race to be knocked out because of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. However, the organisers have confirmed that a planned virtual race will still go ahead on October 18.

Since the Covid-19 outbreak, most sporting codes have turned to this “virtual” phenomenon to compensate for events that have had to be cancelled altogether.
