Popular broadcaster Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp is celebrating her first radio award after 21 years in the industry.

“This award is a huge milestone, not just for me as a woman in broadcasting, but to my entire team because I dedicate this to them. It also means a lot to me that they are recognised as well,” she said.

Afrika-Bredenkamp has been awarded in the Radio Presenter of the Year category at the recent prestigious 2022 Prism Awards. She won the bronze trophy in the Presidential Awards group.

This is my first radio award professionally and I feel honoured and grateful and quite overwhelmed. So, it is really a remarkable stepping stone for me and my team

“In all the work I do, I have always believed I could use my talent to help others. I also dedicate this award to every woman in broadcasting.”

The Jacaranda FM midday show, The Workzone, host said her award was inspired by her colleagues and family.

“I have an amazing husband and my kids are the most honest little human beings I have ever come across. So I trust such people around me to help me grow and become the best version of myself each day.”

She also hosts a parenting podcast called Parent & Baby Brunch, which sees parents speak and encourage each other on their journey with their children.
