Reality television star-turned-businessperson Inno Matijane is tipped to return for season three of Moja Love’s reality show The Way Ngingakhona after announcing his departure last year.

Matijane shocked viewers when he revealed that he would be bidding the popular show farewell at the finale after two successful seasons. The show welcomed viewers into his life and exposed intimate details of him as a proud gay man, the friendships in the LGBTIQ+ community and family dynamics.

The outspoken Matijane was allegedly approached by the producers of the show late last year to return as one of the lead cast members alongside Tholang Motsumi and MJ Maponya. Matijane confirmed that he would be returning to the show but declined to comment further.

The star, along with Motsumi and Maponya, stole the hearts of many when the show, which was the first to cast the spotlight on the LGBTIQ+ community in South Africa, debuted two years ago.

A crew member told City Press that Matijane had started filming his segments of the show.

The source said:

He started shooting early this year. It will be interesting to follow his life as he films with a new group of friends, who he will be introducing to the show

Speaking to City Press shortly after announcing his departure last year, Matijane said he was becoming frustrated with the way his character was being depicted.

“I just feel like, as people, we do things when we figure [out] that those things no longer serve us in a way that we want them to. I think it’s time we started separating ourselves from them without feeling guilty and maybe working towards things that will help us deliver ourselves better and inspire others in a way that we can control.”

The crew member also teased that Maponya would be back with a few changes this season, including his new partner after he broke up with his girlfriend following their participation on Showmax’s relationship show Love Island.

Mojalove’s head of communications Nonzwakazi Cekete did not respond to questions sent to her.

The Way Ngingakhona is set to return in June.
