South Africa’s rail sector in recent years has faced many challenges as a result of insufficient investment, coupled with vandalism and theft of country’s rail assets, to name but a few issues.

While this has weighed on South Africa’s global competitiveness, it could soon change as the industry embraces the opportunities that can arise through public-private partnerships in the rail sector.
