The challenges that Eskom is currently grappling with are systemic, therefore it is critically important that remedying these challenges should be a rigorously systemic exercise, starting with the type of technocrats who are appointed to lead the power utility.

The technocratic wing of Eskom should comprise people with requisite skills, qualifications and experience to ensure that prudent intellectual advice is provided on all fronts, especially expert knowledge and financial management.
