Production volumes have fallen 20% from 2010’s, despite a growth in profits, according to analysts.

The industry has been brought to its knees by innumerable problems, primarily load shedding, freight transport issues, declining investment because of crime and delays in issuing prospecting rights by the department of mineral resources and energy.
