This comes after data released by Statistics SA this week showed that transport costs were part of the major contributors to last month’s inflation number, contributing two percentage points.
The increase to the fuel inflation was largely attributed to a weaker rand and the surge in the dollar-denominated oil price. Added to this was the R1.50 fuel levy temporary reduction introduced by government last month which comes to an end this month.
